The Portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa tells of the struggle for one's own identity, the uneasiness, the restlessness. With startling clarity and unerring intuition, he draws in-between worlds that open up in the gaps in an only apparently solid reality. It is the travellers, the inconspicuous, those who are on the threshold that Pessoa follows in his main work, the »Book of Unrest«, which was first published posthumously in 1982. The poet Simone Homem de Mello made a libretto out of it, which the composer Sidney Corbett, who teaches in Mannheim, set to music that is as electrifying as it is fragile.
