This Bohemia is inspired by an era in the 19th century where several bohemian milieus emerged not only in Paris where Puccini's opera was originally staged, but also here in the Nordic countries; the political  Kristiania bohemians  in Oslo, the authors and poets who made up the  Klara bohemians  in Stockholm and the Scandinavian artists  Skagensmalerne  in Denmark.

 
Central to the plot is the love between the seamstress Mimi and the poet Rodolfo - but also love for art, for nature, for life! The bohemians followed their beating bohemian heart, and did not conform to the rules and norms of society. A colorful and satisfying life in many ways, but also a life in stark contrast to the rest of society with the consequences it has.


With an infectious, youthful zest for life, an action that stirs both tears and laughter and music that is easy to love, Puccini's work has become one of the opera world's most played operas.

Dette Bohemia er inspirert av en epoke på 1800-tallet der flere bohem miljø vokste fram ikke bare i Paris hvor Puccinis opera opprinnelig ble satt, men også her i Norden; de politiske Kristiania bohemene i Oslo, forfatterne og poetene som utgjorde Klara bohemene i Stockholm og de skandinaviske kunstnerne Skagensmalerne i Danmark.

 
Sentralt i handlingen står kjærligheten mellom syersken Mimi og poeten Rodolfo- men også kjærlighet til kunsten, til naturen, til livet! Bohemene fulgte sitt bankende bohem-hjerte, og rettet seg ikke etter samfunnets regler og normer. Et fargerikt og tilfredsstillende liv på mange måter, men også et liv i sterk kontrast til resten av samfunnet med de konsekvenser det har.


Med en smittsom, ungdommelig livsglede, en handling som rører til både tårer og latter og musikk som er lett å elske, har Puccinis verk blitt en av operaverdenens mest spilte operaer.
