What is probably the most famous setting of the Cinderella fairy tale draws on various models of the material: the subtitle of the libretto , Der Triumph der Virtue , refers to the bourgeois theater tradition. It tells the story of Angelina (called Cenerentola), Don Magnifico's stepdaughter, who is treated like a servant by her sisters Clorinda and Tisbe before Prince Don Ramiro finally frees her from her cruel family and makes her his princess. La Cenerentolaoccupies a special position in Rossini's work: it combines his musical fireworks with detailed snapshots of the main characters and gives the fairy tale funny, thoughtful and poetic accents. Here we get to know the well-known characters with all their desires and longings from new perspectives. This makes the fairy tale in this adaptation warm, human and irresistibly funny.

Keith Warner's production of Cenerentola , which premiered in 2004, was enthusiastically received. His interpretation conveys Rossini's humor and musical profundity at the highest scenic level: it is a dream play hanging by a thread.
