Chaos in ancient Carthage: after bitter fighting, the Roman general Scipione defeats the city. Among the prisoners is the Iberian princess Arsinda, whose fiancé Luceio sneaks into the enemy camp unrecognized. After numerous twists and turns that do not save on drama, the gentleness of the dogmatic ruler finally leads to a happy ending.

Since its first performance in London in 1778, this masterpiece by the youngest son of Bach and Mozart's greatest role model has been waiting to be rediscovered. Director Dominik Wilgenbus takes on the story with a wink and creates a dialogue version especially for Eisenach. In this cooperation between the Meiningen and Eisenach houses, the Meiningen puppet theater will also provide special attractions.
