La Dame blanche was a huge success when it was created. A major work of the genre which enthused Rossini, Wagner and Weber, and even inspired Hergé in The Crab with the Golden Claws and The Treasure of Rackham the Red.

Fantastic appearances and twists…

In the 18th century ; a mansion in scotland, in disinheritance. A ghost, Anna, an orphan adopted by the Avenels and responsible for looking after the family's property. A second lieutenant, George Brown, in love with Anna, who opposes the mercantile aims of Taveston...

If in modern culture, The White Lady is a rather fatal ghost, this has not always been the case. In the Pyrenean myths, there is mention of a White Lady whose noble mission is to protect a place or a territory. In Boieldieu's comic opera, in the same way, the character of the White Lady is present to prevent the vile Gaveston from seizing the Château des Avenel.
