The premiere of Fanciulla del West , the seventh title in Puccini's production, was staged on 10 December 1910 at the Metropolitan in New York: on the podium Arturo Toscanini, among the voices Enrico Caruso, enchanting the audience in the air of the last act That she believes me free and distant and the soprano Emmy Destinn, appreciated since the first notes of Laggiù nel Soledad (Minnie's aria from Act I), just to mention some of the most lyrical and poignant moments of a score, in which the composer it was affected by the influence of Wagner and Debussy, so much so that Ravel used the title in numerous lessons to explain to his students how some sound researches, typical of the German and French schools, had had equally perfect results in Italy.

La prima della Fanciulla del West, settimo titolo nella produzione di Puccini, andò in scena il 10 dicembre del 1910 al Metropolitan di New York: sul podio Arturo Toscanini, tra le voci Enrico Caruso, ad incantare il pubblico nell’aria dell’ultimo atto Ch’ella mi creda libero e lontano ed il soprano Emmy Destinn, apprezzata fin dalle prime note di Laggiù nel Soledad (aria di Minnie del I atto), solo a citare alcuni dei momenti più lirici e struggenti di una partitura, in cui il compositore risentì dell’influsso di Wagner e Debussy, tanto che Ravel si servi del titolo in numerose lezioni, per spiegare ai suoi allievi quanto alcune ricerche sonore, tipiche della scuola tedesca e francese, avessero avuto esiti altrettanto perfetti in Italia.
