A very famous work by Donizetti is undoubtedly  La Favorite , a Parisian triumph of 1840, a grand-opéra on the tried and tested Meyerbeer model but often disfigured by cuts, stylistic approximations and horrendous translations. At the Donizetti Theater, this masterpiece will be represented in the French original and in its entirety including the long, elaborate (and beautiful)  dance divertissement  , directed by the Festival's musical director, Riccardo Frizza, while the direction is entrusted to Valentina Carrasco who already has proved to be able to master the wandering and complex dramaturgy of the opera “à grand spectacle”. The Donizetti Opera Orchestra plays and the Donizetti Opera Choir and the Accademia della Scala join forces. Title "for singers", as it was once said, The favorite  ranks a company of big names on the international vocal scene such as the protagonist Annalisa Stroppa, the tenor Javier Camarena, the baritone Florian Sempey and the bass Evgeny Stavinsky, plus Caterina Di Tonno and Edoardo Milletti.
