Tra l’autunno del 1767 e la fine dell’anno seguente Mozart si trova a Vienna assieme al padre Leopold. Nella capitale dell’impero compone alcune pagine di musica sacra e qualche sinfonia ma soprattutto ha modo di assistere alle opere dei più illustri maestri del suo tempo, assimilandone la lezione con rapidità e naturalezza. La finta semplice, dramma giocoso in tre atti su libretto originale di Carlo Goldoni riadattato da Marco Coltellini, fu commissionata a un Mozart poco più che fanciullo da Giuseppe II. Ma il gesto dell’imperatore suscitò non pochi malumori e invidie nell’ambiente musicale viennese tanto che il debutto dell’opera, dopo ripetuti slittamenti, non avvenne a Vienna come previsto ma a Salisburgo nel 1769. Nonostante la giovanissima età e la poca esperienza teatrale, Mozart ne La finta semplice già dimostra di padroneggiare con disinvoltura gli stilemi dell’opera buffa italiana. Al soggetto di matrice goldoniana, già garanzia di brillantezza drammaturgica, il giovanissimo compositore aggiunge un’impronta musicale briosa e spumeggiante degna dell'enfant prodige più noto d’Europa.

Between the autumn of 1767 and the end of the following year Mozart was in Vienna with his father Leopold. In the capital of the empire he composed a few pages of sacred music and some symphony but above all he was able to attend the works of the most illustrious masters of his time, assimilating their lessons quickly and naturally. La finta semplice, a playful drama in three acts on an original libretto by Carlo Goldoni adapted by Marco Coltellini, was commissioned from a Mozart who was little more than a child by Giuseppe II. But the gesture of the emperor aroused not a few discontent and envy in the Viennese musical environment, so much so that the debut of the opera, after repeated postponements, did not take place in Vienna as expected but in Salzburg in 1769. Despite his very young age and little theatrical experience , Mozart in La finta Semplice already proves to master the stylistic features of the Italian comic opera with ease. To the subject of Goldonian origin, already a guarantee of dramaturgical brilliance, the very young composer adds a lively and bubbly musical imprint worthy of the most famous enfant prodige in Europe.
