You are cordially invited to the last party before the end of the word! However, in György Ligeti's so called "anti-anti-opera", things take a rather unexpected turn: when Nekrotzar attempts to bring Death to the people of Breughelland, everything ends in a drunken binge, and even Earth's prophesied collision with a comet does not seem to concern anyone. Ligeti's "Le Grand Macabre" is a vibrant, larger-than-life affair, and director Pınar Karabulut has developed a unique spatial staging concept for this opening production of the new season. The cast includes international guests such as Seth Carico as the diabolical Nekrotzar, Cornel Frey as wine-loving Piet vom Fass, as well as various ensemble members. The Hessian State Theatre's new GMD, Leo McFall, conducts the Hessian State Orchestra.
