The soul of the opera is love, in all its imaginable forms: the Count yearns for lush adventures, Cherubino is in love with love, the Countess nostalgically relives the lost romance, Figaro is consumed by jealousy, Susanna awaits the fulfillment of love with bursting joy.

 

But above and below the raging passions in the work, around and within them, Mozart's unique ability for divine play shines through. No matter how real conflicts plague the court of Count Almaviva, no matter how many dangers lurk in the hidden corners of the castle, this genius shines through the entire opera. Perhaps this is what captures our emotions so much...

 

Neither Mozart nor anyone else has another opera that is so unified, so in harmony with itself and - thanks to the detailed, alert artistic elaboration - complex with such perfect naturalness.

 

It's as if every melody, every motif and phrase is the only possible solution and jumps out of the text with spontaneous fertilization.

Ám a műben tomboló szenvedélyek fölött és alatt körülöttük és bennük áttetszik Mozart egyedülálló képessége az isteni játszadozásra. Bármennyire valós konfliktusok sújtják is Almaviva gróf udvartartását, bármilyen veszélyek leselkedjenek is a kastély eldugott sarkaiban, ez a géniusz az egész operát beragyogja. Talán éppen ez ragadja meg annyira az érzelmeinket…

 

Sem Mozartnak, sem másnak nincs még egy operája, amely ennyire egységes, önmagával ennyire összhangban volna és - a részletező, éber művészi kidolgozottságnak hála - ennyire tökéletes természetességgel bonyolódnék.

 

Mintha minden dallam, minden motívum és frázis az egyedüli lehetséges megoldás volna, és spontán megtermékenyítéssel pattanna ki egyenesen a szövegből.
