Tristano e Isotta - Tristan and Isolde finally showed the way: And so Nemorino comes up with the obvious idea of ​​helping his beloved Adina's feelings with a love potion. The quack Dulcamara senses good business and sells the unhappy lover a bottle of the (supposed) miracle brew. And indeed, Nemorino soon became very popular with all the young women in town. But whether Adina can also be charmed? Or will she even outshine the competition in the form of the dashing Belcore?

Since the audience at the Milan premiere in 1832 tasted Gaetano Donizetti's “Love Potion”, the piece has become an integral part of the operatic repertoire. In just a few weeks, a record-breaking short time even for Donizetti, he achieved a milestone in comic opera. Because despite all the sun that shines through the score, the music always allows us to look deep into the inner life of the protagonists. And so, when he senses his chance with Adina, Donizetti gives his Nemorino the most famous aria in the opera and a real gem for tenors: "Una furtiva lagrima" is not a song of joy, but a melancholic romance.
