Lithuanian chamber orchestra
Oratorium / Orchestral
A top symphonic ensemble – with a history of 60 years, appearances all over the world and rave reviews – will visit the Thessaloniki Concert Hall for a unique concert on April 17, 2019 . The Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra will present a program of outstanding and at the same time very popular works of the romantic repertoire. Since its inception in 1960, the Orchestra has immediately attracted the attention of international audiences with its power and energy. He made countless appearances with various soloists, conductors and choirs, while also making over a hundred recordings with a varied repertoire. In addition to masterpieces of baroque and classical music, the orchestra often includes new works in its program as well as in its recordings. Among other things, he presented works by Arvo Pärt and Alfred Schnittke for the first time at the beginning of their careers and contributed decisively to the establishment and popularity of these composers. Today, the Orchestra not only maintains a perfect artistic level but also explores new creative fields and presents original programs every year. In the first part of her concert at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall, she will present three of the most beloved works of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky . The second part includes a work by Camille Saint-Saëns written especially for the composer and violinist Pablo de Charazate and his incredible virtuosity, as well as two well-known works by Charazate himself – one is a "fantasy" with melodies from the opera Carmen » by Bizet. At the concert we will also enjoy two great soloists: Yiannis Tsitselikis , one of our top cellists with an important international presence, who participates on a non-profit basis, and the Russian Sergei Krylov, one of the most talented violinists of his generation, who has appeared with several of the world's leading orchestras. Since 2008, Krylov has been the artistic director of the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra and often takes on, as in the Megaro concert, the dual role of soloist and conductor. As he says: " I demand from the orchestra what I want from myself: flawless artistic and technical results and new interpretation approaches... The Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra deserves to be considered one of the best orchestras in the world. " Throughout her career , she has accumulated a wealth of experience and formed a truly valuable musical identity, forthis and I approach her with great respect and sensitivity. My aim is to bring out her rich sound and musicality and make her ' bloom ' in a bold way... '.
