A great warrior learns that he will be king. He assassinates his sovereign and ascends the throne. This crime leads to others, who unite against it. He ends up succumbing, weapons in hand. Macbeth knows he will rule, because he has met witches who foretold him. But they didn't prophesy that he would be regicide… So why is he thinking about it, why is his wife dragging him down the bloody slope?
