"Madame Butterfly" is the most frequently performed opera appreciation class, and has been performed three times in production directed by Masayoshi Kuriyama, seven times in Tokyo and six times in Kansai. increase.

Set in Nagasaki, the opera, which depicts the tragedy of Chocho-san, who has continued to love Pinkerton, the husband of an American naval officer, is deeply sympathetic to high school students who are watching the opera for the first time. Tamiya Kuriyama's production depicts the world of Chocho-san, who has been in love with death, on a simple yet large-scale stage. The vivid depiction of the inside of the person has been well received as it greatly stimulates the imagination of sensitive high school students and arouses their interest in opera.
