With this concert we begin a fascinating journey that will lead us to the conquest of an authentic musical Everest: gustav Mahler's integral symphonies.

With the first room we stop at his Third Symphony: one of the composer's most optimistic and extroverted scores. The most extensive of them all, which needs a large number of troops to be interpreted.

With this work, Mahler offers us one of his most complete musical statements about the worldview, where pain is relieved by death, a yearning only achieved with the arrival to heavenly paradise. A symphony posed as a transition from daylight to the darkness of the night. The projection of shadows of the forest curled with life. A creation that develops between refinement, watermark and the weight of orchestral forcefulness.

Written in the summer of 1895 during his retirement at Steinbach am Attersee (Austria), the score includes the extraordinary sixth movement: adagio. A music of a very personal nature that stands out for its emotional intensity. An embattled and eloquent movement that seems to exist out of time and represents Mahler's vision of heaven.

With the participation of the mezzo-soprano in a powerful melody, followed by the children's choir that mimics the sound of the bells, Mahler elaborates a discourse that addresses the relationship between joy and death from different angles. With a serene and strong beauty, we begin this path with one of the most renowned Mahlerians on an international scale: Josep Pons, collaborator of the new edition of the scores for Universal.
