The operetta was partly inspired by a life of the author himself. With an uncompromising dose of exaggeration, parody and a superb image of confusion that becomes the main environment as the convent, theatre and barracks, the main character of Célistin, alias Floridor, and the scholastic monastery Denisa de Flavigny move with extraordinary talent to complicate the already confused situation. The operetta premiered in 1883 and is considered the most successful opus by the composer, Florimonda Hervé. Right after its premiere, “Ice Maiden” spread around the world and is one of the most popular titles of its genre.
