Der Carinthische Sommer hat sich die Förderung aufstrebender Talente auf die Fahnen geschrieben und gibt regelmäßig jungen Sänger*innen die Gelegenheit, sich dem Publikum vorzustellen. In diesem Jahr wird die israelisch-portugiesische Mezzosopranistin Maya Gour, die 2022 den CS Rising Stars Award des Internationalen Belvedere-Gesangswettbewerbs gewann, ihr vielfältiges stimmliches Können im Rahmen eines Solo-Rezitals präsentieren. Sie begann ihre Karriere als Jazzsängerin, bevor sie sich dem klassischen Gesang zuwandte. Seit 2020 ist sie Mitglied des Nationalen Opernstudios der Niederlande, wo sie bereits Bühnenerfahrung in Opern von Donizetti, Verdi, Strauss und Bernstein sammeln konnte. Die breitgefächerten Fähigkeiten ihrer Stimme kommen auch in dem Programm zur Geltung, das sie für dieses Konzert zusammengestellt hat. Es vereint den geschmeidigen Belcanto Rossinis und jazzige Nummern von Weill mit dem Klang israelischer Volkslieder. Begleitet wird Maya Gour von dem australischen Dirigenten und Pianisten Lochlan Brown, der bereits an Opernhäusern in Australien, Nordamerika, Italien und Litauen arbeitete und derzeit Korrepetitor am Nationalen Opernstudio der Niederlande ist.

The Carinthian Summer is committed to promoting up-and-coming talent and regularly gives young singers the opportunity to introduce themselves to the audience. This year, the Israeli-Portuguese mezzo-soprano Maya Gour, who won the 2022 CS Rising Stars Award at the Belvedere International Singing Competition, will present her diverse vocal skills in a solo recital. She began her career as a jazz singer before turning to classical singing. Since 2020 she has been a member of the National Opera Studio of the Netherlands, where she has already gained stage experience in operas by Donizetti, Verdi, Strauss and Bernstein. The wide-ranging abilities of her voice also come into their own in the program she has put together for this concert. It combines the supple bel canto of Rossini and jazzy numbers by Weill with the sound of Israeli folk songs. Maya Gour will be accompanied by Australian conductor and pianist Lochlan Brown, who has worked at opera houses in Australia, North America, Italy and Lithuania and is currently répétiteur at the National Opera Studio of the Netherlands.
