Ausgebeutet, vergiftet und mit Bomben überzogen. In der interdisziplinären Performance „Mensch, Musik! #7 Statt Land Meer“ geht das Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin der menschlichen Zerstörungswut, aber auch der Hoffnung auf Heilung nach. Im Vordergrund steht die Geschichte der jungen japanischen Pianistin Akiko, die den Atombombenabwurf in Hiroshima nicht überlebt. Ihr Klavier wird jedoch bis heute gespielt – noch mit Glassplittern durch die atomare Druckwelle im Korpus. Mit sechs sinfonischen und elektronischen Werken spürt das RSB der Zerstörung von Natur und Lebewesen nach, aber macht auch Hoffnung auf eine bessere, heilsame Zukunft.

Das RSB bekennt sich dazu, Musik nicht nur um ihrer selbst willen, sondern explizit für Menschen zu machen, auch für jene, die bisher kaum ein Ohr für Klassik und Sinfonieorchester hatten. Dazu lädt sich das Orchester Künstler:innen ein, die mit Bildern, Texten und optischen Visionen über das Hören hinaus unsere Sinne zu erreichen vermögen. Das Regieteam „tauchgold“ vereint gemeinsam mit Studenten, Dozenten und Alumni von Catalyst, einem Hochschulinstitut für Creative Arts und Technologie mit Sitz im Berliner Funkhaus, kreative Praktiken, Disziplinen, Genres und Visionen aus unterschiedlichen künstlerischen und kulturellen Hintergründen.

Unter der Leitung von drei jungen Dirigent:innen wird das RSB aus dem „normalen“ Konzertbetrieb bewusst heraustreten, um brennende Fragen musikalisch aufzuwerfen.

Exploited, poisoned and covered with bombs. In the interdisciplinary performance “Mensch, Musik! #7 Cities Land (in) Oceans”, the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin explores human destructiveness, but also the hope for healing. The focus is on the story of the young Japanese pianist Akiko, who does not survive the atomic bombing in Hiroshima. Her piano, however, is still played today – still with shards of glass in the body due to the atomic blast wave. With six symphonic and electronic works, the RSB traces the destruction of nature and living beings, but also gives hope for a better, healing future.

The RSB is committed to making music not just for its own sake, but explicitly for people, including those who have hitherto had little ear for classical music and symphony orchestras. To this end, the orchestra invites artists who are able to reach our senses beyond hearing with images, texts and optical visions. Together with students, lecturers and alumni from Catalyst, a university institute for creative arts and technology based in Berlin’s Funkhaus, the “tauchgold” directing team brings together creative practices, disciplines, genres and visions from different artistic and cultural backgrounds.

Under the direction of three young conductors, the RSB will consciously step out of the “normal” concert setting to raise pressing questions musically.
