Met het beklijvende Schicksalslied componeerde Johannes Brahms een van de hoogtepunten van de romantische koormuziek. Hij roept er de tragische sfeer op van een gedicht waarin Hölderlin in enkele woorden het noodlot bezingt. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart maakte ongewild zijn eigen dodenmis: hij schreef het Requiem op vraag van een anonieme opdrachtgever, maar overleed nog voor het voltooid was. Op basis van Mozarts aantekeningen maakte zijn leerling Frans Xavier Süssmayr het iconische meesterwerk klaar voor de eeuwigheid. Je hoort er onmiskenbaar echo’s van Bachs contrapuntische virtuositeit en de invloed van Händel. Eredirigent Philippe Herreweghe geniet wereldwijde erkenning voor deze tijdsperiode. Samen met het Collegium Vocale Gent maakt het Antwerp Symphony Orchestra zich op voor een ongetwijfeld memorabele tournee langs verschillende Vlaamse steden.

With the brief Schicksalslied, Johannes Brahms composed one of the highlights of Romantic choral music, evoking the tragic atmosphere of a poem where Hölderlin sings of destiny in a few words. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart unintentionally created his own requiem mass: he wrote the Requiem upon the request of an anonymous commissioner but passed away before its completion. Based on Mozart's notes, his pupil Frans Xavier Süssmayr prepared the iconic masterpiece for eternity, featuring unmistakable echoes of Bach's contrapuntal virtuosity and the influence of Händel. Honorary conductor Philippe Herreweghe is globally recognized for this period. Alongside the Collegium Vocale Gent, the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra prepares for an undoubtedly memorable tour across various Flemish cities.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart a involontairement créé sa propre messe des morts : il a écrit le Requiem à la demande d'un commanditaire anonyme, mais est décédé avant qu'il ne soit terminé.
