For his production of “Mother Courage”, Bernd Liepold-Mosser once again got musical support from Boris Fiala (“Moonlight”, “Family Lässig”). Brecht's powerful criticism of war and capitalism comes up with a live band and a well-known cast. The internationally successful actress and chanson singer Anne Bennent can be seen in the title role. War is a profitable business - also for the sutler Anna Fierling, known as Mother Courage. With her mute daughter and two sons, she travels from one theater of war to the next, doing business wherever and with whomever she can. Driven by an indestructible will to survive, she has learned to adapt to the most adverse circumstances. A "hyena of the battlefield" who knows how to assert herself and who believes she can master the harsh laws of the market. But little by little she loses everything – in the end her children too. Brecht wrote the chronicle of the Thirty Years' War in Danish exile in 1938/39, which is interwoven with allusions to National Socialism - not least as a warning to all those who hoped to be able to profit financially from the Second World War. In twelve scenes, the parable unfolds a series of historical images to make people aware “that the big deals that make up war are not done by the little people. That war, which is a continuation of business by other means, makes human virtues deadly, even for those who possess them.
