From the opera "Nabucco", the third in the career of Giuseppe Verdi, his fame began. It is based on the events described in the Bible ( Fourth Book of Kings, chapters 24, 25 ), and tells about the disasters of the Jews, about their captivity by the Babylonians, and then - the release to their homeland by the king of Babylon Nebuchadnezzar II. The premiere of the opera took place in 1842 on the stage of Milan's La Scala - it will be staged for the first time at the Ural Opera.

Nabucco at the beginning of the opera is a fan of the Assyrian idol Baal, he offends the faith of the Jews, proclaims himself God, and as a punishment for insolence loses his mind: love for his daughter Fenena helps him atone for guilt and come to a new faith. The directors of the Yekaterinburg performance shift the center of the story from Nabucco to his second, illegitimate daughter Abigail, who, having learned about her low origin, rejects her father and seizes power. The performance will feature the mimic role of the Soul of Abigail, who lives in the sands of the endless desert as in a kind of purgatory. The soul of Abigail remembers her past earthly life and tries to correct her mistakes.

С оперы «Набукко», третьей в карьере Джузеппе Верди, началась его слава. Основана она на событиях, описанных в Библии (Четвёртая книга Царств, главы 24, 25), и повествует о бедствиях евреев, об их пленении вавилонянами, а затем – отпущении на родину царем Вавилона Навуходоносором II. Премьера оперы состоялась в 1842 году на сцене миланского «Ла Скала» – в Урал Опере она будет поставлена впервые.

Набукко в начале оперы – поклонник ассирийского идола Ваала, он оскорбляет веру иудеев, провозглашает себя Богом, и в наказание за дерзость лишается рассудка: искупить вину и прийти к новой вере ему помогает любовь к дочери Фенене. Постановщики екатеринбургского спектакля смещают центр повествования с Набукко на его вторую, внебрачную дочь Абигайль, которая узнав о своем низком происхождении, отвергает отца и захватывает власть. В спектакле появится мимическая роль Души Абигайль, обитающей в песках бескрайней пустыни как в своеобразном чистилище. Душа Абигайль вспоминает о своей прошлой земной жизни и пытается исправить совершенные ошибки.
