From fiery csárdás to light-footed polka: The Thuringian Symphony will play the most beautiful dances and operetta melodies from Hungary for you on New Year's Eve 2021. With Raffaela Lintl (soprano) and Michael Siemon (tenor) we have won two top-class vocal soloists for you, who have already enjoyed great success at the Musikverein Wien and the Gewandhaus in Leipzig. Excerpts from operettas by Emmerich Kálmán, Paul Abraham and Johann Strauss will be heard. The "Gypsy Baron", the "Countess Mariza" and of course the "Juliska from Budapest" will do each other on this evening. In this repertoire, the orchestra also finds the opportunity to shine with virtuosity. And this year your tour guide is none other than Her Imperial Highness herself, Elisabeth of Austria, better known under the name Sissi. Together with the chief conductor of the Thuringian Symphony Orchestra, Oliver Weder, the Empress will reveal to you some spicy secrets about Emperor Franz Joseph of Austria and Viennese society.
