The Netherlands Chamber Orchestra takes the stage of Open Air Theater Caprera with an energetic and colorful program full of Italian drama and theatre. During a setting sun, soprano Julietta Aleksanyan and countertenor Cameron Shahbazi sing highlights from Handel's best-loved operas. Gordan Nikolić plays Vivaldi's Violin Concerto Musical director Gordan Nikolić opens the concert as a soloist with Vivaldi's 'Amsterdam' violin concerto. He then leads the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra in dazzling opera arias by Handel and a theatrical symphony by Luigi Boccherini, with the ominous title 'the house of the devil'. Handel's famous operas Handel wrote the operas Ariodante, Giulio Cesare and Tolomeo for the London theaters, where his music was immensely popular. He had the very best singers at his disposal, for whom he composed arias for the body. It offers the Armenian soprano Juliette Aleksanyan and the Canadian countertenor of Iranian/Persian descent Cameron Shahbazi plenty of room to shine. And that promises to be very beautiful, because in Trouw Peter van der Lint wrote enthusiastically about the latter singer: 'Shahbazi's voice is full, voluminous, his timbre personal and beautiful.'
