The Slovenian composer, choral conductor and teacher Damijan Močnik (*1967) is best known for his choral music. For example, in 1995 he made a name for himself with a hymn for the visit of Pope John Paul II to Slovenia. His St. John Passion dates from 2011 and is in the form of a five-part cantata. In the work he combines western church music traditions with the sound idioms of his homeland.
