There is no musical work for children in the world more popular than Sergei Prokofiev's symphonic fairy tale "Peter and the Wolf". The composer composed it in 1936 at the request of the artistic director of the Moscow Central Children's Theater Natalia Sats, who asked her to write a simple but informative guide to the orchestra for the little ones. The tale immediately captivated the public on both sides of the ocean, and not only the young.

The charm of the uncomplicated story about pioneer Petya, who lassoed a wolf and sent him to the zoo, is given by eloquent music that does not require detailed comments from the narrator. Having first got acquainted with individual musical instruments depicting a particular character, young listeners then easily recognize their voices in the orchestral choir.

Director and artist Alexandra Lovyannikova is a graduate of the experimental course of Yevgeny Kamenkovich and Dmitry Krymov, who were the first in Russia to teach artists along with directors and actors. In recent years, Lovyannikova has established herself as one of the leading specialists in the Russian theater for children and youth, being the author of about a dozen musical, animated, interactive and puppet performances that take place throughout the country
