Épaulé par les musiciens de l’OSR, l’Orchestre de la Haute école de musique de Genève donnera deux œuvres du grand compositeur hongrois Peter Eötvös. Avec Reading Malevich, il s’est donné pour tâche de transformer une image, un événement optique, en musique en s’inspirant d’une toile de Malevich. Son Concerto pour harpe, écrit tout spécialement pour notre soliste Xavier de Maistre, un des plus grands harpistes du monde, résulte d’une commande conjointe de l’OSR avec cinq autres grands orchestres internationaux. On découvrira aussi en première audition suisse les Sechs Augenblicke de Michael Jarrell, notre compositeur en résidence. Créée en 2022 à Nantes et à Angers par l’Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire qui l’avait commandée, cette pièce pour grand orchestre s’inspire des Six Moments Musicaux de Schubert mais dans le langage propre au compositeur genevois qui y déploie une belle maîtrise des timbres de l’orchestre auxquels il joint un piano et un célesta. Le concert s’achèvera avec la Suite de Háry János de Zoltán Kodaly, petit chef-d’œuvre d’humour racontant l’histoire d’un hussard un brin mythomane.

Supported by the OSR’s musicians, the Orchestra of the Haute école de musique Genève will have the opportunity to perform the works of the great Hungarian composer Peter Eötvös. With Reading Malevich, he set himself the task of transforming an image, an optical event, into music, drawing inspiration from a painting by Malevich. His Harp Concerto, written especially for our soloist Xavier de Maistre, one of the greatest harpists in the world, is the result of a joint commission by the OSR with five other major international orchestras. We will also discover the first Swiss audition of the Sechs Augenblicke by Michael Jarrell, our composer in residence. Premiered in 2022 in Nantes and Angers by the Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire, which had commissioned it, this piece for large orchestra is inspired by Schubert's Six Moments Musicaux but in the language specific to the Geneva composer who deploys a beautiful mastery of the timbres of the orchestra to which he adds a piano and a celesta. The concert will end with Háry JánosSuite by Zoltán Kodaly, a small masterpiece of humor recounting the story of a hussar a bit of a mythomaniac.
