A mysterious love commotion surrounding two pairs of lovers!​ 

 

The opera “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” is a beloved play by Shakespeare, a British playwright loved around the world, reborn as an opera by Benjamin Britten, the greatest British opera composer of the 20th century. It premiered at the Aldeburgh Festival in England in 1960 and is an English opera that is difficult to see in Korea. It is expected that a unique atmosphere will be created as a German director and composer will meticulously present a British work. Felix Krieger, a versatile conductor who digests a wide range of opera repertoires, leads the music of A Midsummer Night's Dream, and director Wolfgang Negele, who is creating his own directing world, presents realistic and contemporary characters rather than mythological characters. Together, we plan to ask the audience various questions such as reality, marriage, and freedom.​ 

synopsis
Overn, the king of the fairies, sends the fairy Puck on an errand for the love flower in order to connect two young couples. The love flower contained the magic of falling in love with the person you saw immediately after opening your eyes. However, due to a fairy's mistake, the wrong people fall in love. At this time, preparations for a play are in full swing in the village. Seeing this, Puck turns Bottom's head into a donkey as a joke and applies a love flower to Obern's wife, Titania. As a result, she falls in love with Bottom, who has the head of a donkey. Due to the sudden change in attitude, a fight begins between the young lovers and the fight spreads to Titania and Bottom. As everyone falls asleep, exhausted from the fight, Puck returns them to their original state. Those who wake up think it was all a midsummer night's dream.
