Giuseppe Verdi in 1841 in the opera "Nabucco" conveys to contemporaries and future generations the anxiety and worries for the earthly Temple before the horrors of the future, feeling the tremors that gripped Europe even then, before 1848...

The "Maestro of the Revolution", in addition to innovation in the opera genre, was able to recreate space and time in a spiral image in the music itself.

Events of the 6th century BC are understood and experienced by us at the level of new intellectual and emotional awareness. Verdi connects the past and the present in one chain, and his power of thought is manifested in today's time by new challenges and threats to earthly civilization.

In most cases, the theater responds by staging this opera to the most relevant and dramatic and tragic moments of history.

"Nabucco", as a genius-mystical work that appeared at the intersection of an era, time, style, is not always popular in calm times, its mission in a time of the highest tension and human fear is to be a symbol of the restoration of hope and justice, thus it affirms us in the future.

Maybe that's why, in our restless existence, the idea of ​​staging Giuseppe Verdi's Nabucco at the Odessa National Opera arises.

Today, when the world held its breath in anticipation of some universal tragedy...

The Temple - the Earth becomes defenseless both from the will of the Creator and from the will of humanity itself.

Earth is a poppy seed in space, it is constantly under threat of collision with extraterrestrial asteroids. That is why stage designer Tadej Ryndzak, in the design of the play, depicted the faces of those who guarded and prayed for the earthly Temple engraved in ancient Hebrew with phrases from the Torah on the stones falling from the sky.

The army of Nabucco - the king of Babylon Nebuchadnezzar II looks like a modern spiritless monster, which is ready, being zombified by the power, to erase the holy Temple from the face of the earth. It represents evil, the essence of which is death.

High Priest Zacharias, in front of such a terrible enemy attack, tries to instill hope in his people, to save the Temple, calling out to the Most High for salvation.

It is no longer peoples, their cultures, or worldviews that are opposed here, but two ideologically hostile world powers are extremely clearly distinguished here...

The fates of all the main characters of the work are dramatic in their own way. However, in Nabucco it is one of the most tragic. A pretentiously flawed individual, endowed with unlimited power, possessing a large state, the world's most powerful army, technical weapons, ceases to realize his human purpose, the limits of his human capabilities.

Then the Almighty deprives him of his common sense at the highest peak of glory. Reason leaves the king, he becomes a blank sheet of paper again, but God does not deprive him of love... love for his daughter Fenene...

It is with love that Nabucco calls out to the God of the Jews, asking for the salvation of his loving daughter and lovingly acknowledging the power of the Creator over himself and the world.

The temple will be saved by his love...

The Earthly Temple will be saved by human repentance...

Науковці шукають життя поза Землею на найближчих планетах…

Джузеппе Верді в 1841 році в опері «Набукко» передає сучасникам та майбутнім поколінням тривогу і переживання за Храм земний перед жахіттям грядущого, відчуваючи тремтіння, що охопило Європу ще тоді, перед 1848 роком…

«Маестро революції», окрім новації в оперному жанрі, у самій музиці зміг пересотворити простір і час в спіральному вияві.

Події VI століття до н.е. осмислюються і переживаються нами на рівні нового інтелектуального та емоційного усвідомлення. Верді поєднує в один ланцюг минуле та сучасне, і його сила думки проявляється в сьогоднішньому часі новими викликами та загрозами для земної цивілізації.

Театр у більшості випадків відгукується постановкою цієї опери на найактуальніші і драматично-трагічні моменти історії.

«Набукко», як геніально-містичний твір, що з’явився на зрізі епохи, часу, стилю, не завжди користується популярністю в спокійні часи, його місія в час найвищого напруження і людського страху – бути символом відновлення надії і справедливості, таким чином він стверджує нас у майбутньому.

Може й тому, в наше неспокійне буття, виникає ідея постановки Джузеппе Верді «Набукко» в Одеській Національній Опері.

Сьогодні, коли світ затамував подих в передчутті якоїсь вселенської трагедії…

Храм – Земля стає беззахисним як від волі Творця, так і від волі самого людства.

Земля – макове зерно в космічному просторі, вона повсякчасно під загрозою зіткнення з позаземними астероїдами. Тому художник-сценограф Тадей Риндзак в оформленні спектаклю відобразив на камінні, що сиплеться з неба, вибиті староєврейською мовою фразами із Тори та лики тих, хто оберігав і молився за земний Храм.

Військо Набукко – царя Вавилону Навуходоносора ІІ виглядає сучасним бездуховним монстром, що готовий, будучи зомбованим владою, стерти з лиця землі святий Храм. Воно уособлює зло, сутність якого – смерть.

Первосвященник Захарія перед такою страшною ворожою навалою намагається вселити своєму народу надію, врятувати Храм, взиваючи за порятунком до Всевишнього.

Тут протиставляються вже не народи, не їхні культури, чи світовідчуття, тут гранично чітко виокремлюються дві ідейно-ворожі світові сили…

Долі усіх головних героїв твору драматичні в кожного по своєму. Однак у Набукко вона одна з найтрагічніших. Претензійно ущербна особистість, наділена безмежною владою, що володіє великою державою, наймогутнішою в світі армією, технічним озброєнням перестає усвідомлювати своє людське призначення, рамки своїх людських можливостей.

Тоді Всевишній позбавляє його здорового глузду на найвищому піку слави. Розсудок покидає царя, він знову стає чистим листом паперу, але Бог не позбавляє його любові…любові до дочки Фенене…

Саме любов’ю взиває Набукко до Бога євреїв, просячи про порятунок люблячої дочки і з любов’ю визнаючи владу Творця над собою і над світом.

Храм буде врятовано його любов’ю…

Храм Земний буде врятовано людським покаянням…
