Mozart did not have time to complete this  Requiem . It was his wife, Constance, who asked Süssmayr to complete it in 1792. Once completed, the work outlines a path that goes from anger to plenitude. Stéphane Braunschweig, the current director of the Odéon-Théâtre de l'Europe in Paris, offers a “simple and at the same time expressive” reading. It is not a question of tackling an interpretation that would freeze the work in a straitjacket or a reductive image, but of leaving the music in the foreground, by giving the singers (choir and soloists) and the spectators the possibility of a kind of mental journey both in the composer's head and in the present times. I imagine for this  stage proposal a sober, but powerful and symbolic space, whose mobility and plasticity make it possible to accompany all the movements of the music: this coming and going between a desire for appeasement and bursts of anxiety. Because in Mozart, the experience of death, of the approach of death, is made from life”. The project was entirely designed in an ecological and sustainable approach, as if to show that the cycle of life does not only concern living beings.

Mozart n’a pas eu le temps de terminer ce Requiem. C’est sa femme, Constance, qui demande à Süssmayr de le compléter en 1792. L’œuvre une fois terminée dessine un trajet qui va de la colère à la plénitude. Stéphane Braunschweig, l’actuel directeur de l’Odéon-Théâtre de l’Europe à Paris, en propose une lecture « simple et en même temps expressive. Il ne s’agit pas de plaquer une interprétation qui figerait l’œuvre dans un carcan ou une image réductrice, mais de laisser la musique au premier plan, en donnant aux chanteurs (chœur et solistes) et aux spectateurs la possibilité d’une sorte de voyage mental à la fois dans la tête du compositeur et dans les temps présents. J’imagine pour cette proposition scénique un espace sobre, mais puissant et symbolique, dont la mobilité et la plasticité permettent d’accompagner tous les mouvements de la musique : ce va-et-vient entre désir d’apaisement et bouffées d’angoisse. Car chez Mozart, l’expérience de la mort, de l’approche de la mort, se fait à partir de la vie ». Le projet a été entièrement conçu dans une démarche écologique et durable, comme pour montrer que le cycle de la vie ne concerne pas seulement les êtres vivants.
