An opera in three acts by Giuseppe Vardi to the libretto of Francesco Maria Piava based on the play "The King is Playing" by Victor Hugo
The director copied the scene of the opera to a cruise ship sailing on the river near the city of Mantua. Its owner is a wealthy businessman from the city's dignitaries, and his guests are the people of Mantua, the city's haters, affluent business owners and playful politicians who seek his closeness; Among them is a hired killer who offers his services for a fee. On the ship is also Rigoletto, a clown-entertainer who made a living from the amusement of the ship's owners and guests, and with him Gilda his house, in the blink of an eye, whom he tries with all his might to protect from those pleasure-seekers who stare at her. A tragic story about a curse and revenge, about the love of a devoted father, and an innocent girl who sacrifices her life for love.
With the staging of the opera "Rigoletto", the Jerusalem Opera celebrated exactly 100 years since the first staging of this opera in the Land of Israel - in Jerusalem, in the mythological "Zion" cinema hall in
