About the work

For this poignant new production of passion, betrayal and revenge, a perfect melodic and dramatic combination, Marie-Eve Signeyrole - who had signed, among others in Montpellier, the staging of the first two parts of Puccini's Tryptic and The Monster of the Labyrinthby Jonathan Dove - confronts two figures of Rigoletto: that of the loving father-monster who locks his daughter in from the first scene, and his reverse, the jester of today. If the latter, like a comedian alone on stage, laughs at power and the elites, the former reveals his fantasized fears, even his neurosis of persecution. Witnesses to the artist's psyche, you are invited to attend the public entertainer's last lap in this lyrical masterpiece where fiction and reality will end up merging in a drastic action, with its protagonists strongly characterized in their range and vocality.
