Dvořák's Rusalka is far from just a romantic fairy tale. On the contrary, it reveals a number of seemingly imperceptible symbolic and psychological meanings, depicting not only the struggle of sincerity with hypocrisy and betrayal, but also the eternal struggle of light and darkness, the dream of eternity and the reality of mortality. The main heroine is a water fairy, but her heart is also full of deep human feelings - desire and love. In fact, she is still alone - she has to make her own decisions and deal with the tragic consequences of her decisions.
