In the C major Fantasy, the sound of the violin emerges as if from the depths of the piano's background, balancing its garland-like ornaments. It's one of Schubert's ideas that surprises by heading directly towards its goal: building emotional tension. It culminates in variations on his own song but is also present in the lighter sections. That's Schubert all over. 

The perfection of Beethoven's famous Kreutzer Sonata holds a bitter reference to the history of the excluded. Dedicated to the renowned French violinist Rudolphe Kreutzer, it was actually composed for the black musician born in Biała Podlaska, George Polgreen Bridgetower. Well, Kreutzer (who never performed this sonata) was treated like a star, while Bridgetower was seen as an oddity. Today, it's worth remembering him.

W Fantazji C-dur dźwięk skrzypiec wyłania się jakby z głębi fortepianowego tła, aby równoważyć jego girlandowe ozdobniki. To jeden z Schubertowskich pomysłów, które zaskakują kierunkiem wprost do celu: budowania emocjonalnego napięcia. Kulminuje ono w wariacjach na temat własnej pieśni, ale jest obecne także w częściach lżejszych. Cały Schubert.

Sonata G-dur op. 96 Ludwiga van Beethovena cieszy się mianem najpiękniejszej ze wszystkich jego sonat skrzypcowych. Marion Scott w monografii o Beethovenie pisała wręcz o jej „spokojnym, eterycznym pięknie”. Powstała dla zaprzyjaźnionego z kompozytorem uznanego skrzypka Pierre’a Rode’a. Na krótko przed jej ukończeniem Beethoven donosił w liście do arcyksięcia Rudolfa: „Pisząc ją musiałem wziąć pod uwagę grę Rode’a. Lubię w finałach efektowne pasaże, ale to nie podoba się Rode’owi i… to mi trochę przeszkadza”. W rezultacie powstała wdzięczna i często dziś grywana kompozycja z finałem będącym zbiorem siedmiu wariacji i krótką kodą o wesołej tematyce.
