Alexander von Zemlinsky's late romantic songs represent the last breaths of German song art. Zemlinsky orchestrated them himself, but Zemlinsky specialist Richard Dünser has compiled his own selection under the title "Night and dreams". Lotta Wennäkosken's Verdigris is a tribute to Sibelius completed in 2015. The title refers to the patina that accumulates in the layers of music history, but it also refers to the green color, which Wennäkoski hopes will bring freshness to his memories of Sibelius's Tale. Brahms had his pessimistic side, but the second symphony ends up being his happiest symphony. That's why he asked his publisher to publish it with "black mourning edges".
