Életem legszebb álma, a Fiatal Siegfried kedvéért végül mégis be kell fejeznem a Nibelung-darabokat; A walkür olyan sokat kivett belőlem, hogy meg kell engednem magamnak ezt az örömöt. […] Miután életemben sosem éreztem igazán a szerelem mennyei boldogságát, emlékművet kell emelnem minden álmom közül a legszebbnek, amelyet elejétől a végéig teljesen eltölt a vágyott szerelem érzése” – írta Wagner Liszt Ferencnek 1854-ben. A mű először a teljes tetralógia bemutatásakor, 1876 augusztusában csendült föl Bayreuthban. 140 évvel később, az Opera új Ring-ciklusának soronkövetkező részeként M. Tóth Géza rendezésében kerül a félelmet nem ismerő hős története újra az Opera műsorára.

“ For the sake of the most beautiful dream of my life, Young Siegfried, I must finally finish the Nibelung plays; Walkür has taken so much out of me that I have to allow myself this pleasure. [...] Since I have never really felt the heavenly bliss of love in my life, I must raise a monument to the most beautiful of all my dreams, which from beginning to end is completely filled with the feeling of longed-for love, " wrote Wagner to Ferenc Liszt in 1854. The work was performed for the first time in Bayreuth in August 1876, when the complete tetralogy was presented. 140 years later, as the next part of the Opera's new Ring cycle, directed by Géza M. Tóth, the story of the fearless hero will be shown again at the Opera.
