As Dortmund hip-hop legends, Too Strong wrote rap history and enjoy absolute cult status even beyond the city limits. They are considered the epitome of true underground hip-hop and the founders of the silonation , with which the Dortmunders significantly shaped German hip-hop. Silonation defines a lifestyle that speaks out against stigmatizing others because of certain behaviors, affiliations, or activities.

Its now more than 30-year history begins in 1989 in Dortmund, a time when hip-hop is only known to a few die-hard people. Dissolved several times and yet always revived, Too Strong must at some point realize for themselves: "Rap Music Is Life Music" − or, as Too Strong member Der Lange titled one of his solo discs: "You Can't Hold It Back."

Today, this music culture is an integral part of the mainstream and urban youth worldwide and so the umbrella organization Krupplyn e. V. − also dedicated to the underground − Dortmund’s up-and-coming rappers, who act both as a crew and individually as solo artists and enliven Dortmund’s streets with their subculture.

Silonation combines all the elements of hip-hop culture in a music-theatrical production: battle rap, DJing/scratches, breakdance, graffiti/street art and beatboxing condense into a very unique story about Silonation.

After Sounds of Dortmund and Der Hetzer , the Dortmund Opera House remains connected to rap and presents a highlight at the end of the season with the Hip-Hopera Silonation , which stretches from the opera stage to the opera forecourt.
