Sílvia Pérez Cruz radiates like a sovereign and solitary star in the contemporary musical landscape. Like many artists from her native Catalonia, this singer and multi-instrumentalist with a magnetic voice knows how to position herself at the crossroads of multiple paths without giving up any of her subjectivity or her singularity. Rocked by Latin American and Iberian songs, trained in classical and jazz, marked by folk, flamenco or fado, she has built a work that cannot be reduced to a genre, which has also forged natural links over time with dance, theatre, poetry or cinema.
On stage, Sílvia Pérez Cruz and her musicians deliver more than just concerts: they are real stories where the intimate and the collective embrace(s). As in his last album, the spellbindingToda la vida, un día : a suite “in five movements, five ages, five colors”, which she began to write in the first days of the March 2020 confinement with “the desire to unite solitudes”. She drew from it the subtly changing material of a cycle of songs which harmonizes all her influences and which, in concert, unfolds “like an entire life, like a day, from sunrise to sunset, circular.” Iridescent in a thousand shades, the result is truly overwhelming. With an unclassifiable musical language, Sílvia Pérez Cruz manages to exalt in each and every one of us feelings and thoughts that have the unmistakable flavor of the universal.

Sílvia Pérez Cruz irradie tel un astre souverain et solitaire dans le paysage musical contemporain. Comme beaucoup d’artistes de sa Catalogne natale, cette chanteuse et multi-instrumentiste à la voix magnétique sait se poster à la croisée de multiples chemins sans rien abdiquer de sa subjectivité ni de sa singularité. Bercée par les chansons latino-américaines et ibériques, formée au classique et au jazz, marquée par le folk, le flamenco ou le fado, elle a construit une œuvre irréductible à un genre, qui a aussi tissé au fil du temps des liens naturels avec la danse, le théâtre, la poésie ou le cinéma.
Sur scène, Sílvia Pérez Cruz et ses musiciens délivrent plus que de simples concerts : ce sont de véritables récits où s’embras(s)ent l’intime et le collectif. Comme dans son dernier album, l’envoûtant Toda la vida, un día : une suite “en cinq mouvements, cinq âges, cinq couleurs”, qu’elle a commencé à écrire aux premiers jours du confinement de mars 2020 avec “le désir d'unir les solitudes”. Elle en a tiré la matière subtilement changeante d’un cycle de chansons qui harmonise toutes ses influences et qui, en concert, se déploie “comme une vie entière, comme un jour, du lever au coucher du soleil, circulaire.” Irisé de mille nuances, le résultat est proprement bouleversant. Avec un langage musical inclassable, Sílvia Pérez Cruz réussit à exalter en chacune et chacun de nous des sentiments et des pensées qui ont la saveur incomparable de l’universel.
