Chef-d'œuvre trop rare de Verdi, offrant une place de choix à la voix de baryton, Simon Boccanegra eut deux naissances. L'une en 1857 à Venise et l'autre, après révision, en 1881 à Milan, laquelle fit de l'ouvrage un sommet absolu de la production du compositeur. Sentiments et enjeux de pouvoir s'y déploient avec une intensité rarement égalée. Si Paul Daniel est au pupitre, c'est Catherine Marnas, Directrice du TnBA, qui met en scène, signant là sa première collaboration avec l'Opéra National de Bordeaux.

-too-rare masterpiece by Verdi, giving pride of place to the baritone voice, Simon Boccanegra had two births. One in 1857 in Venice and the other, after revision, in 1881 in Milan, which made the work an absolute peak of the composer's output. Feelings and issues of power unfold there with an intensity rarely equaled. If Paul Daniel is at the pulpit, it is Catherine Marnas, Director of the TnBA, who directs, signing her first collaboration with the Opéra National de Bordeaux.
