This charity concert in favor of Ukraine is yet another collaboration between the orchestra academies of the Royal Philharmonic and the National Polish Radio Symphony in Katowice.

The musicians are led by the Polish conductor Blazej Wincenty Kozlowski, who in addition to activities in his home country also regularly worked in Lviv in Ukraine with the city's philharmonic as well as at the opera. We also hear the Polish piano soloist Tymoteusz Bies and the Polish-Ukrainian soprano Olga Pasiecznik.

The program is crowned by a chamber version of Gustav Mahler's Fourth Symphony, sometimes called "sky blue" because of its bright and lyrical character. Before that, works by Swedish Andrea Tarrodi, Polish Henryk Górecki and Polish-British Andrzej Panufnik will be performed.

The international RSPO Orchestra Academy is a higher academic special education for young musicians. This "orchestral academy" is linked to the Royal Philharmonic, and NOSPR is the equivalent of the Polish orchestra. Here, the young top musicians meet again in their third collaboration in less than a year. 

With support from the Polish Institute in Stockholm and the EU network EUNIC, the European Union's network for national cultural institutes.

Denna välgörenhetskonsert till förmån för Ukraina är ännu ett samarbete mellan orkesterakademierna hos Kungliga Filharmonikerna och Nationella polska radiosymfonikerna i Katowice.

Musikerna leds av den polske dirigenten Blazej Wincenty Kozlowski, som utöver verksamheten i hemlandet också regelbundet arbetat i Lviv i Ukraina med såväl stadens filharmoniker som vid operan. Vi hör även den polske pianosolisten Tymoteusz Bies och den polsk-ukrainska sopranen Olga Pasiecznik.

Programmet kröns av en kammarversion av Gustav Mahlers fjärde symfoni, ibland kallad ”himmelsblå” på grund av sin ljusa och lyriska karaktär. Dessförinnan framförs verk av svenska Andrea Tarrodi, polske Henryk Górecki och polsk-brittiske Andrzej Panufnik.

Den internationella RSPO Orchestra Academy är en högre akademisk specialutbildning för unga musiker. Denna ”orkesterakademi” är knuten till Kungliga Filharmonikerna, och NOSPR är motsvarigheten hos den polska orkestern. Här möts de unga toppmusikerna igen i sitt tredje samarbete på mindre än ett år.
