Celebrating Curtis’s legacy of conducting and composing, our orchestra has an inspiring program planned under the baton of Osmo Vänskä. It includes neoclassical composer, pianist, and conductor Julia Perry’s dynamic Study for Orchestra (originally titled A Short Piece for Orchestra when it premiered in Turin, Italy, in 1952). The program also features Robert Schumann’s beloved Piano Concerto in A minor with Amy Yang (’06), our new associate dean of piano studies and artistic initiatives, as soloist. The program concludes with Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 1 “Titan.”
