We perform this rarely-heard 1725 (second) version, on its 300th anniversary as part of our long-running BACH300 series tracking Bach’s Leipzig career. This monumental work, steeped in profound spirituality and dramatic intensity, transports us through the final hours of Christ’s life with dramatic and emotional depth.
