With the Introduction, Theme and Variations by Rossini, the audience will be welcomed by the sparkling virtuosity of the Principal clarinet of the I Pomeriggi Musicali Orchestra of Milan. Under the direction of Stefano Montanari, Marco Giani and the orchestra will tackle this brilliant piece, in which the young Rossini transforms the clarinet into a human voice, between sinuous melodic profiles and virtuosic variations, which allow the soloist to show off all his skill of him. Luigi Boccherini was also a virtuoso, a great cellist and highly original composer, who lived in the second half of the eighteenth century and was an exponent of an often forgotten Italian Classicism. Author of over 580 works, he wrote about thirty symphonies and symphonies concertante, of which the proposed one was the first to be published, in 1771, with five other sisters called “Concerti a grande orchestra”, still on the Baroque model. Although his activity led him to the courts of all Europe, due to the reverses of history Boccherini lost most of his patrons and lived his last years in poverty, in sickness and in an oblivion from which he is emerging only in recent times . In fact, about thirty years passed between Boccherini's First Symphony and Beethoven's First Symphony: but in these thirty years, the world has changed. If with Boccherini we are still immersed in gallant and rococo atmospheres, with Beethoven we are preparing for a revolution. Tribute to the great Haydn and Mozart, we can consider the First Symphony a run-up before that leap that will change the history of music forever. Con l’Introduzione, Tema e Variazioni di Rossini, il pubblico verrà accolto dal virtuosismo sfavillante del Primo clarinetto dell’Orchestra I Pomeriggi Musicali di Milano. Con la direzione di Stefano Montanari, Marco Giani e l’orchestra affronteranno questo brano brillante, in cui il giovane Rossini trasforma il clarinetto in una voce umana, tra sinuosi profili melodici e virtuosistiche variazioni, che permettono al solista di dare sfoggio di tutta la sua bravura. Un virtuoso era anche Luigi Boccherini, grande violoncellista e compositore originalissimo, vissuto nel secondo Settecento ed esponente di un Classicismo italiano spesso dimenticato. Autore di oltre 580 lavori, scrisse una trentina di sinfonie e sinfonie concertanti, di cui quella proposta fu la prima ad essere pubblicata, nel 1771, con altre cinque sorelle chiamate “Concerti a grande orchestra”, ancora sul modello barocco. Nonostante la sua attività lo abbia condotto per le corti di tutta Europa, per i rovesci della storia Boccherini perse gran parte dei suoi mecenati e visse i suoi ultimi anni in miseria, in malattia e in un oblio da cui sta emergendo solo in tempi recenti. Tra la Prima Sinfonia di Boccherini e la Prima Sinfonia di Beethoven, infatti, passano circa trent’anni: ma in questi trent’anni, il mondo è cambiato. Se con Boccherini siamo ancora immersi nelle atmosfere galanti e rococò, con Beethoven ci prepariamo ad una rivoluzione. Omaggio ai grandi Haydn e Mozart, possiamo considerare la Prima Sinfonia una rincorsa prima di quel salto che cambierà per sempre la storia della musica.
