And we’re all coming home with this screening of Steven Spielberg’s 1982 masterpiece. Childhood favourite for some, timeless tale to (re)discover for others, no doubt it will be a pleasant surprise for all, with John Williams’ iconic soundtrack played live by the Luxembourg Philharmonic on the stage of the Grand Auditorium. Winner of four Academy Awards, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial is much more than a family-friendly sci-fi blockbuster. It is first and foremost a subtle parable through which to grapple with deep and essential questions about empathy, friendship and belonging. What if Spielberg’s endearing alien actually helped to make us more human?

Et c’est ainsi que nous rentrons tous à la maison avec ce chef-d’œuvre de Steven Spielberg datant de 1982. Favori d’enfance pour les uns, conte intemporel à (re)découvrir pour les autres, nul doute qu’il sera une agréable surprise pour tout le monde, avec la bande originale emblématique de John Williams jouée en direct par l’Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg sur la scène du Grand Auditorium. Récompensé par quatre Oscars, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial est bien plus qu’une superproduction familiale de science-fiction. C’est avant tout une parabole subtile qui permet d’aborder des questions profondes et essentielles sur l’empathie, l’amitié et le sentiment d’appartenance. Et si le sympathique extraterrestre de Spielberg contribuait en fait à nous rendre plus humains?
