Verhalen uit het hart van het orkest
Regisseur Jorinde Keesmaat daagt de musici van Phion uit: ‘Vertel je persoonlijke verhaal, je ervaring, je kennis, je hartstocht als orkestmusicus en creëer zo je eigen performance’. Het resulteert in drie fantasierijke, theatrale voorstellingen door orkestleden als onderdeel van het concert, met als thema de vrouwelijke componiste Louise Farrenc en haar Symfonie nr. 3. Je beleeft ze op onverwachte plekken in het gebouw: een foyer, een gang of bijvoorbeeld een solistenkamer. Spannende, mooie en soms ontroerende verhalen uit het hart van het orkest die de wereld van de orkestmusici heel dichtbij brengt en een andere kijk werpt op de symfonie die centraal staat. 

Louise Farrenc
Centraal in dit concert onder leiding van Manoj Kamps staat de Symfonie nr. 3 van Louise Farrenc. Een markant figuur in het muzikale Frankrijk van de 19e eeuw. In een uitgesproken mannenwereld wist Farrenc zich als vrouw glorieus te handhaven als concertpianiste, pianodocente aan het Parijse conservatorium en componiste. Naast veel pianomuziek, componeerde ze ook kamermuziek en orkestwerken. In een tijd waarin opera dominant was in de Franse muziek, wist zij met haar drie symfonieën grote bewondering af te dwingen. Haar Symfonie nr. 3 kan zich wat dat betreft meten met die van haar tijdgenoten Brahms en Schumann. Muziek van ongekende kracht, diepgang, maar vooral grote schoonheid.

Stories from the heart of the orchestra
Director Jorinde Keesmaat challenges the musicians of Phion: 'Tell your personal story, your experience, your knowledge, your passion as an orchestral musician and create your own performance'. It results in three imaginative, theatrical performances by orchestra members as part of the concert, themed around the female composer Louise Farrenc and her Symphony No. 3 . You experience them in unexpected places in the building: a foyer, a corridor or, for example, a soloist's room. Exciting, beautiful and sometimes moving stories from the heart of the orchestra that bring the world of orchestral musicians very close and give a different view of the symphony that is central. 

Louise Farrenc
Central to this concert conducted by Manoj Kamps is the Symphony no. 3 by Louise Farrenc. A striking figure in musical France in the 19th century . In a distinctly male world, Farrenc managed to hold her own as a woman as a concert pianist, piano teacher at the Paris Conservatory and composer. Besides a lot of piano music, she also composed chamber music and orchestral works. At a time when opera was dominant in French music, she commanded great admiration with her three symphonies. In this respect, her Symphony No. 3 can compete with those of her contemporaries Brahms and Schumann. Music of unprecedented power, depth, but above all great beauty.
