The meanwhile traditional summer night gala (for the 10th time!) with its special atmosphere and where music, nature and architecture flow together in a total work of art became a world-famous "musical treat" (Kurier).
At this concert, the great bass-baritone Bryn Terfel meets the young Russian star soprano Olga Peretyatko and delivers operatic rarities and popular arias, full of beauty, wit and emotion. The program ranges from Charles Gounod's “O légère hirondelle” (Mireille) to “lips are silent” from Franz Lehár's operetta masterpiece “The Merry Widow”. Piano virtuoso and festival director Rudolf Buchbinder also presents Carl Maria von Weber's rarely performed “Concert Piece in F Minor”.
As in previous years, the evening ends with Edward Elgar's march "Pomp and Circumstances" accompanied by a large fireworks display above the breathtaking cloud tower, surrounded by the idyllic castle grounds.
