Leonard Bernstein, cutting loose at the head of an all-American marching band. Carlos Simon, reimagining the voices that history excluded. Or Britain’s own star of the classical sax, Jess Gillam, with a sumptuous salute to the giants of 20th-century jazz. Yes, the EFG London Jazz Festival is in town, and tonight the LSO is going to the party.

Jess Gillam hit the headlines when she became the first saxophone player ever to make the finals of BBC Young Musician. A born communicator, she’s sure to strike sparks off the LSO’s charismatic Principal Guest Conductor Gianandrea Noseda.
