Emmanuelle Haïm tackles with fervor this new version of the “semi-opera” The Indian Queen , written by John Dryden and Robert Howard, set to music by Henry Purcell. The composer and musical director, accompanied by her excellent Concert d'Astrée orchestra ( Dido & Aeneas , 2022; Pygmalion/L'Amour et Psyché , 2020), is collaborating for the occasion with the famous director Guy Cassiers, regular on stage of the City Theaters ( Monsieur Linh and His Child, 2019). The Indian Queen is a "heroic drama", which tells the fictional story of the conflict between the Incas and the Mexicans, addressing both political themes, such as the usurpation of power, and more intimate ones, such as loyalty, betrayal , love. The staging of Cassiers is a dense montage of several disciplines and emotions that range from the sublime to the suffering.

Emmanuelle Haïm s’attaque avec ferveur à cette nouvelle version du « semi-opéra » The Indian Queen, écrit par John Dryden et Robert Howard, mis en musique par Henry Purcell. La compositrice et directrice musicale, accompagnée de son excellent orchestre Concert d’Astrée (Dido & Aeneas, 2022 ; Pygmalion/L’Amour et Psyché, 2020), collabore pour l’occasion avec le célèbre metteur en scène Guy Cassiers, régulier des scènes des Théâtres de la Ville (Monsieur Linh and His Child, 2019). The Indian Queen est un « drame héroïque », qui raconte l’histoire fictive du conflit qui oppose les Incas aux Mexicains, abordant à la fois des thèmes politiques, comme l’usurpation du pouvoir, et plus intimes, comme la loyauté, la trahison, l’amour. La mise en scène de Cassiers est un montage dense de plusieurs disciplines et d’émotions qui vont du sublime à la souffrance.
