The exotic overture from Mozart's Abduction from the Serai opens the way for a deeply classical program, continuing with Mendelssohn's evocative and sparkling Violin Concerto , ending in Brahms' undisputed magnum opus, the dramatic 4th Symphony that constantly challenges the listener's mental and emotional world, delivering some of the deepest and darkest moments of the 19th century.
