Wenn der große französische Pianist Pierre-Laurent Aimard am Wolkenturm den Solopart in Bartóks drittem Klavierkonzert spielt oder das Tonkünstler-Orchester unter Brad Lubman Debussys «La Mer» anstimmt, dann sind die «Anticipations» von Composer in Residence Philippe Manoury bereits verklungen. Das neue Werk des französischen Komponisten nimmt auf die musikalische Tradition der beiden Meisterwerke Bezug und sie somit zu Beginn des Konzerts gewissermaßen vorweg. Ergänzt wird das Programm durch Ligetis legendäres Klanggemälde «Atmosphères», das durch Stanley Kubricks Science-Fiction-Film «2001: Odyssee im Weltraum» berühmt wurde.

When the great French pianist Pierre-Laurent Aimard plays the solo part in Bartók's Piano Concerto No. 3 on the Cloud Tower or the Tonkunstler Orchestra begins Debussy's "La Mer" under Brad Lubman, the "Anticipations" by Composer in Residence Philippe Manoury have already faded away. The new work by the French composer refers to the musical tradition of the two masterpieces and thus, to a certain extent, anticipates them at the beginning of the concert. The program is supplemented by Ligeti's legendary sound painting "Atmosphères", which became famous through Stanley Kubrick's science fiction film "2001: A Space Odyssey".
