The concert program "Two Confessions" presents the work of Ludwig van Beethoven, which is undeservedly rarely heard in Russia - the oratorio "Christ on the Mount of Olives", as well as the Russian premiere of one of the most iconic vocal works in the European musical culture of the 20th century - "Six Monologues from Jedermann" by the Swiss composer Frank Martin. Along with the annually performed theatrical drama Jedermann at the Salzburg Festival ("Imarek. Imagination of the death of a rich man", 1911) by the outstanding Austrian cultural figure, poet, playwright, writer and publisher Hugo von Hoffmannsthal, this work periodically appears in his program.

The program was originally conceived as an homage to Beethoven and the Salzburg Festival in honor of the 250th anniversary of the first and the second century and was planned for the opening of the VIII Opera Apriori Festival in December 2020.

This evening, another Russian premiere will be performed: "Five Pieces for Orchestra" by our contemporary - French composer Philippe Hersan, who will personally attend the concert.

The legendary Wagner-Strauss bass-baritone Albert Domain will perform Six Monologues and the part of the Apostle Peter in Beethoven's work.

Soprano Dilyara Idrisova, a soloist of the Bashkir Opera and Ballet Theater and winner of the Golden Mask, who is well known to the Russian and European public for her baroque repertoire, will sing the part of Seraphim. The soloist of the Latvian National Opera, tenor Artyom Safronov will perform the title role in the oratorio.

The Russian National Orchestra, soloists and vocal ensemble Intrada will be directed by twice Grammy nominee, chief conductor of the Scottish chamber orchestra and the Il pomo d'oro baroque orchestra, conductor in residence of the Opera Apriori festival Maxim Emelyanychev.

The concert was organized by the Apriori Arts agency with the support of the French Embassy and the French Institute, the Swiss Embassy, ​​the Goethe-Institut and the Dan book publishing house (Kazakhstan).
